ORIGINAL 1950'S CESCA CHAIRS BY MARCEL BREUER FOR GAVINA

ORIGINAL 1950'S CESCA CHAIRS BY MARCEL BREUER FOR GAVINA

Regular price Sale

A set of 4 original Cesca chairs designed by Marcel Breuer and produced by Gavina in the 1950's. Unlike the numerous imitations out there these are the real thing, hand caned rather than machine, no caps to the tubular frame and the correct curviture and seat length.

"Thonet produced the chair until World War II. In the 50's Dino Gavina, a furniture manufacturer in Foligno, Italy, started making the chair with Breuer's permission. The name also changed, its namesake is Breuer's daughter Francesca, or Cesca. It was Dino who named the chair after her. In 1968 Knoll bought Gavina." Elaine Louie

The chairs are in good vintage condition with some deterioration to the cane on one seat back (see photo).
